Sometimes you have to choose not to be romantic for a higher goal. What is romantic in the short-term can be childish in the long-term. On the other hand, what is pragmatic in the short-term can be romantic in the long-term.
In the movie When Harry Met Sally, our hero and heroine were kind of obnoxious to each other at first. But without that, they couldn’t have told the story they did, 12 years and 3 months later.
Being a romantic means living an entire story that is romantic, not a romantic chapter in a story that ends up a tragedy.
